Typical services such as smart meter reading, smart smoke sensing, smart parking, and electric bicycle have been widely used in China Mobile's NB-IoT network. To evaluate the large-capacity performance of the NB-IoT live network, China Mobile proposes a large-capacity evaluation and an end-to-end performance optimization solution based on a typical Internet of Things service model. By evaluating the impact of different service models, subscriber distribution, and parameter configuration on the capacity, China Mobile provides support and basis for network deployment and optimization. At the end of 2018, ZTE and China Mobile used NB-IoT Massive-connection & multi-service Virtual-verification Platform (NMVP) solution for the first time in Tianjin to carry out the large-capacity evaluation of the NB-IoT based on the typical service model, thus helping Tianjin Mobile deploy a well-tailored NB-IoT network. ZTE and China Mobile are now in the second phase of service plan with NMVP solution. The network optimization will be implemented remotely to ease the network capacity pressure caused by a large-scale smoke-sensing service of Beijing Mobile.
Based on the actual service model and service performance requirements of China Mobile's live NB-IoT network, ZTE and China Mobile made a nice joint effort to evaluate the performance of typical NB-IoT services such as electricity meter call test, water meter reading report, smoke alarm, and parking information report. NB-IoT wireless network congestion control feature was also tested. The evaluation in Tianjin provides valuable information for the deployment, performance optimization and capacity expansion of the NB-IoT services on China Mobile's live network.
The large-capacity evaluation of the NB-IoT live network scenario is usually supposed to involve a large number of terminals. Besides the obvious logistics nightmare with so many terminals, there are also other issues such as computer operation, operation space, power supply, and fault tracing. ZTE solves all that by simulating a large number of terminal access and service interaction processes. It not only supports large-capacity and multi-service evaluation for field network, but also supports precise simulating live network by mirroring technology, with the capability to achieve network optimization remotely, all of which is what ZTE has realized as the first ever in the industry. Besides, ZTE can provide capacity evaluation for a variety of discrete NB-IoT service models and their hybrid service models, and guide network deployment and expansion. Signaling tracing is also available to improve troubleshooting efficiency.
With its strong R&D and innovative capabilities, ZTE offers the operators around the world with cutting-edge IoT solutions like NMVP, and is committed to helping the operators build high-quality and competitive NB-IoT networks, thus accelerating the evolution of Internet of Things with much improved efficiency.
