Revenues from mobile game downloads reached $46.9 million in the second quarter, with almost 13.5 million wireless subscribers downloading a game during that period. According to Telephia's latest Mobile Game Report, since the third quarter of 2005, the number of subscribers who have downloaded mobile games has grown by 15%, with revenues during that time frame surging 63%.
Game publisher EA Mobile held the biggest chunk of the revenue pie at more than 29%, with Namco and Hands-On Mobile following at a distant No. 2 and No. 3 with an 8.4% and 8.2% share, respectively. Glu Mobile accounted for 7.4% of all revenues, while Gameloft contributed 7.1%.
EA Mobile's Tetris was the most downloaded game, holding a 5.1% share of total download revenue, followed by Namco's Pac-Man with 3%, EA Mobile's Bejeweled with 2.8%, Namco's Ms. Pac-Man with 2.3% and Hands-On Mobile's World Poker Tour-Texas Hold "ËœEm with 2.2%.
