Asia-Pacific IoT network operator Thinxtra has completed deployment of a Sigfox LPWA IoT network covering more than 90% of Hong Kong.
The operator has now deployed IoT gateways across the territory, after launching in Hong Kong late last year.
Thinxtra is the exclusive licensee for the Sigfox global cellular IoT network in Hong Kong, and is targeting customers in the logistics, construction, smart facility management, health, household, industrial machinery and smart city industries.
Devices can roam freely to Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA without extra cost, with the whole of Asia expected to be covered by next year.
Thinxtra has been working with HKBN to accelerate the deployment and adoption of the LPWA network.
“We are delighted to announce the network has reached full coverage and solutions can now be connected, across Hong Kong, for as little as HK$20 ($2.55) per year,” Thinxtra GM for Hong Kong Joe Sun said.
“We continue to support practical IoT solutions and innovation in Hong Kong, Thinxtra continues to collaborate on IoT R&D with the HKSTP, working with the SCC and other local partners on the design of devices, sensors and solutions.”
Thinxtra also operates Sigfox IoT networks in Australia and New Zealand.
