Thaicom revealed that due to the on-going flood crisis, particularly in the central areas of Thailand, the company and TOT are jointly supporting the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology by using Thaicom satellites to receive and transmit live pictures via CCTV cameras currently installed in critically hit areas.

These CCTVs will monitor the water level changes in real-time and the information is fed to the government’s Flood Relief Operation Center at Don Muang Airport. The Flood Relief Operation Center is therefore able to effectively assist those affected in a timely basis, Thaicom said in a statement.

Thaicom provided the Thaicom 4 bandwidth and the IPSTAR system to connect to CCTV cameras in critical areas. The video signals from the CCTV cameras are connected to the IPSTAR user terminals and transmitted to the Thaicom 4 satellite and relayed to the IPSTAR user terminal installed at the Flood Relief Operation Center for real-time monitoring.
