Thaicom, operator of commercial satellite operator announced that Thaicom 5 reported a temporary technical problem last week which has been resolved.
The company said the probable cause of which was what is known as "Electrostatic Discharge" (ESD). The technical problem caused all satellite TV channels on the Thaicom 5 to be interrupted.
When this unusual incident occurred, the satellite will adjust itself automatically into the “Safe Mode.” Services returned to “normal.”
Regarding the ESD incident, the Thaicom 5 is not damaged in any way and the satellite did not move outside the orbital position of 78.5 degrees east.
