Indonesian system integrator PT Mobinet Indonesia has contracted mission-critical radio communications vendor Hytera Communications Corporation, via subsidiary Teltronic, to provide a TETRA communications system for Indonesia's first light rail transit (LRT) system.
Teltronic will provide a full communications system including and portable and mobile radios, infrastructure and a customized command and control system for the LRT project in the city of Palembang.
Palembang will be one of the cities that will hold the next Asian Games in August-September this year.
As well as radio systems and onboard units, the contract will involve the provision of infrastructure including a switching control node and mast-mounted base stations.
"We are delighted to participate in this project, which will be Indonesia’s first operational light rail transport system,” Teltronic sales director for transportation in APAC Josep Jonch said.
“Our solution in the Palembang LRT will facilitate operational efficiency and will improve the security of the passengers. The system will also allow our customer to accommodate further expansions for future requirements, including the upgrade [to] a hybrid TETRA-LTE solution in the future.”
The Palembang LRT is projected to commence operation in June, and has a total estimated budget of 9.4 trillion rupees ($688.08 million). The Asian Games will commence on August 18 and run until September 2.
