The chief financial officer of TeliaSonera is one of four senior executives fired by the Swedish operator last week, over claims of unethical business practices.
Per-Arne Blomquist, who was also executive vice president of the telco, has been replaced by Christian Luiga the current head of the chief executive’s office, on an interim basis, following a probe into transactions by TeliaSonera and its partners in the Eurasia region.
The initial findings of the investigation suggest transactions and agreements dating back several years “have not been in line with sound business practices,” a company statement reveals.
President and chief executive, Johan Dennelind, says the decision came after the investigation highlighted “the way some transactions in the past were managed does not live up to the high standards of business ethics and transparency that TeliaSonera wants to stand for.”
Marie Ehrling, chairman of the board, says the four executives “no longer have the trust of the Board” as a result.
Although the telco hasn’t named the other three executives, Bloomberg reports head of mobility services Tero Kivisaari is among the quartet fired.
Ironically, Blomquist was appointed acting chief executive of the telco in February, after previous president and chief Lars Nyberg quit the firm following criticism of the way the firm handled the acquisition of a mobile license in Uzbekistan in 2007.
