Telekom Malaysia said its full-year profit grew 87.6% in 2010 to 1.21 billion ringgit ($395.25 million).
The firm said profits had been bolstered by higher revenue, tighter cost management and favorable foreign exchange rates.
TM reported a 15.4% improvement in data revenue to 1.75 billion ringgit, due to higher demand for data in the country.
Internet revenue for the year had increased 5.9% to 1.65 billion ringgitt. The firm reported net additions of 249,000 for its internet services last year, up from 151,000 in 2009.
TM’s high-speed triple-play broadband service, dubbed UniFi, signed up 33,000 customers last year since its launch in March 2010.
The company’s group CEO, Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said in a press statement that the company was ‘very much on track’ with its high-speed broadband rollout.
“Due attention will be given to ensure the rollout of UniFi is effectively managed from the aspects of cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction,” said Dato’ Sri Zam.
Voice revenue had decreased to 3.86 billion ringgit from 4.05 billion ringgit in 2009.
