Vendor Telco Systems has launched a new Ethernet aggregation switch, the T-Metro 7224, that aims to simplify the experience of launching MPLS networks.

The switch is priced at around half the cost of a typical Carrier grade 10GE aggregation switch, Telco Systems said, using half the power.

It extends MPLS, QoS, multicast and IPv6 features into Ethernet access and aggregation networks, offering a range of transport options including VPLS, 802.1ad and MAC addresses of up to 256K.

The vendor said it would soon launch a service management platform also designed to reduce the cost and complexity of multi-service oriented access network planning.
