Sun Microsystems has launched a series of open source cloud security tools, and announced it has helped create the Cloud Security Alliance's latest security framework.
The company has launched tools including the OpenSolaris VPC Gateway, which provides a method to create a secure communications channel to virtual private clouds.
Sun also launched Immutable Service Containers - which compartmentalize services across a virtual machine - and the Cloud Safety Box, which automates the compression, encryption and splitting process in the cloud.
Meanwhile, Sun said its engineers have been instrumental to the industry-wide effort by the Cloud Security Alliance to develop a series of guidelines on the secure adoption of cloud computing.
