ST-Ericsson, the chip venture of STMicroelectronics and Ericsson, has appointed Didier Lamouche as president and chief executive officer, as the company shifts its focus from feature phones to smartphones and tablets.
Lamouche, chief operating officer of STMicroelectronics, replaces Gilles Delfassy, who will advise Lamouche during a transition period.
Lamouche assumed his new role on December 1, while maintaining his title of ST COO.
He has served on the board of ST-Ericsson since April and sat on the supervisory board of STMicroelectronics. He is currently sitting on the boards of Soitec and ADECCO.
Prior to joining ST, Lamouche served as chairman and CEO of Bull, a French-based IT group with worldwide presence, between 2005 and 2010.
