Japanese electronics giants Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi have agreed to combine their display business, according to an Associated Press report.
The report said three firms are joining forces to become more competitive in small and medium-sized panels a sector that's expected to grow because of the popularity of smartphones and tablets.
The report said the display-business subsidiaries of Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi agreed to sign a deal later this year and to complete the business combination by the first few months of next year.
