SK Telecom has forged a strategic partnership to provide its expertise to help Bharti Airtel deploy India's most advanced telecoms network.
The partnership will cover several areas including developing bespoke software to improve the network experience for customers.
The two operators also plan to collaborate on the development and evolution of standards for 5G, NFV, SDN and IoT and jointly work to establish an enabling ecosystem for the introduction of these technologies to the Indian market.
In addition, the collaboration covers the implementation of machine learning and big data to measure network quality and improve network planning based on the customer's experience at the device level.
The companies said the capacity to identify, monitor and deliver improvements to the network experience on an individual device basis will be a first in the Indian market.
“We are extremely delighted to announce this partnership with the world’s leading operator when it comes to technology understanding and expertise,” Bharti AIrtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal commented.
“This partnership will bring a dramatically improved experience to Airtel customers in India by leveraging the expertise of a company that has built one of the best mobile broadband networks in the world.”
