SK Internet unit looking for Chinese partner

South Korea's SK Communications, the online services unit of telecom giant SK Telecom, is seeking a partner for its Internet operations in China, according to a Dow Jones report.

The Dow Jones report, quoting SK Communicaitons CEO Hyun Oh Yoo, said the selection process will be completed by the end of this year or early next year.

The executive however Yoo didn't name the potential partner, the Dow Jones report said.

SK Communications launched its Chinese-language online community, Cyworld, in June 2005, the Dow Jones report said.

At the end of August, it had 1.5 million Chinese subscribers, the company's Web site said.

The Dow Jones report further said the company is focusing on increasing the number of subscribers in China, according to Yoo.
