SingTel has announced the launch of Singapore's first 150Mbps mobile broadband LTE services, after doubling the peak speed of its outdoor 4G network.

The company said that 150Mbps theoretical peak speeds are available in outdoor locations nationwide, and a handful of popular indoor areas. Typical downlink speeds promised range between 5-40Mbps.

SingTel vice president of consumer marketing Johan Buse said 150Mbps services will be extended to smartphones and tablets “in the coming months, when handsets compatible with these speeds become available in Singapore.”

SingTel is offering its Mobile Broadband 150 plan for S$59.90 ($48.50) per month. This includes 5GB of data, with excesses charged at S$5.35 per GB, capped at S$94 per month.

The plan will be bundled with a mobile Wi-Fi modem initially, and a USB dongle modem from next Saturday.

The price compares to S$49.90 for the company's 75Mbps bundled device plan, which includes 10GB of data and shares the same S$94 excess data bill cap.

SingTel announced last month that it had achieved nationwide coverage on its LTE network, including dual-band street-level coverage for 95% of the island. The operator first launched (dongle-only) LTE services in December 2011.
