(Xinhua via NewsEdge) SingTel plans to invest some S$100 million ($63 million) in the next two years to promote its Internet services for businesses.
According to a Channel NewsAsia report, the company aims to be the top Internet service provider for corporates in the Asia-Pacific region by 2009.
With about 9.5% of VPN market share in the region at present, the company will enhance its network infrastructure and expand its portfolio of services.
It identifies overseas operations, corporate VoIP market, as well as managed communications and IT needs services to SMEs in Singapore, as growth areas.
Corporate business accounted for more than 40% of SingTel's earnings in 2005.
The total VPN market in the region excluding Japan is expected to be worth $600 million this year, according to the report.
