SingTel has chosen HP as its strategic partner for the Singapore government’s Cloud (G-Cloud) five-year tender award by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA).

G-Cloud will be the first extensive private cloud for all government agencies in the country.

SingTel said the partnership, which will be known as Innovum (from the words ‘Innovation’ and ‘Continuum’) will implement a private cloud computing infrastructure on a whole-of-government basis, and is aligned with SingTel-HP’s vision to drive continuous innovations for cloud services in the government sector.

"Innovum will deliver an innovative and dedicated pool of shared IT resources to enable all government agencies to scale up their IT infrastructure with cloud services rapidly without having to make any significant hardware or software investments," said Bill Chang, SingTel’s Managing Director, Business Group, Group ICT.

Jim Merritt, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Group, HP Asia Pacific & Japan, said Singapore’s G-Cloud will be built on HP’s CloudSystem, integrating hardware, software and services to provide shared, scalable and resilient cloud computing resources.

"HP also brings leading cloud innovation through the resources of HP Labs Singapore," he said.

SingTel and HP had collaborated on the launch of the first public cloud services in Singapore through the “Alatum” branding in 2008.
