Sina has developed its first TV-app in an exclusive partnership with Lenovo which will be launched in a series of Lenovo Smart TV products in China, according to areport.
The smart TV will allow users to read, post and share comments on Sina Weibo while watching TV programs and advertisements, the report added.
Liu Jun, Lenovo's SVP and mobile internet digital home president, was quoted saying Lenovo is expanding into the field of internet devices while strengthening its position in the PC industry.
“China's smart TV market will experience explosive growth in 2012, and Lenovo is poised to give customers in China with technology that they want,” Liu said.
Sina Corporation's president and CEO Chao Guowei added that Lenovo's introduction of smart TV will have a “wide-reaching influence on the entire industry.”
Lenovo Smart TV will be available in nine cities across China - Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, starting this month, the report added.
