Sea Launch prepares to launch Koreasat 5

(Satellite Today via NewsEdge) Sea Launch's Odyssey platform and Commander have departed the company's home port to prepare for the launch of the Koreasat 5 communications satellite.

The mission, which will take place from Sea Launch's floating platform at the equator, is scheduled for August 21.

Koreasat 5, built by Alcatel Alenia Space, will carry 36 transponders in multi-band frequencies. The spacecraft is owned by the Agency for Defense Development of Korea and KT Corp.
