OSS Vendor of the Year, BSS Vendor of the Year: Amdocs

Erwann Thomassain, Amdocs' director of marketing for Asia Pacific, looks at the highlights over the last year.

I would say that last year could be called the year of mega productions. We successfully went live with the world's largest convergent charging installation, proving our ability to support the most complex and demanding projects in the communication industry. We are engaged in multiple business transformation programs throughout the Asia-Pacific region with the objective to help our customers transition from selling simple voice and messaging services to being profitable purveyors of personalized customer experiences.

Last year also saw the release of version 8.1 of the Amdocs OSS platform, which is focused on reducing service providers' time and cost to deploy new, innovative services and increasing support for maintenance of inventory and operational data integrity. A number of our OSS customers have upgraded or are in the process of upgrading their OSS architecture.

What are the key industry trends you have capitalized on to drive growth?

One of the key trends that we see impacting the market in Asia is the move toward convergence. Operators are realizing that they can achieve huge benefits by consolidating systems across lines of business, services and technologies.

Examples include prepaid and postpaid convergence, fixed and mobile convergence, residential and business convergence, but also IT and telecom convergence. We have continued to support customers in their journey to convergence by providing truly unified BSS and OSS platforms across all services and lines of business.

From an OSS perspective many CSPs are focused on growth and consolidation. They are looking at how to optimize the existing OSS deployments through simplification and modernization. Our solutions allow customers to decrease time to market for new services and at the same time significantly reduce deployment costs.

Many CSPs in APAC will look to outsource more of their OSS to partners that have proven innovation, delivery and BPO capabilities. Amdocs is delivering these capabilities today for many CSPs around the world.
