The Philippines' Globe Telecom has reported solid mobile revenue growth for the first nine months of 2014, on the back of strong gains in postpaid earnings.

The operator's postpaid revenue grew 11% to 22 billion pesos ($489.2 million), with the segment accounting for 38% of total mobile revenues for the nine-month period. Total mobile revenue increased 6% year-on-year to 57.6 billion pesos.

Postpaid subscribers increased 9% from the previous year to 2.2 million, with total gross additions of 614,905 for the nine months.

Globe SVP of consumer mobile marketing Issa Cabreira said she expects the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to help drive further strong postpaid gains for the remainder of the year.

“With our long-standing partnership with Apple, we are poised to provide a complete digital experience to consumers,” she said.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched in Globe stores on November 14.

To help drive further postpaid growth, the operator has reintroduced its option for customers on existing 24-month mobile contracts to reset their subscription and receive a newer smartphone for a reset fee.
