Pos Malaysia to expand e-fulfilment service

Postal and courier firm Pos Malaysia has adopted Anchanto’s warehouse management technology to expand its ability to provide a comprehensive e-fulfilment service, primarily to serve the growing e-commerce business in Malaysia.

Anchanto’s electronic warehouse management system will be integrated with Pos Malaysia’s own processes to form an e-Commerce Fulfilment System.

The new platform will enable Pos Malaysia to provide and end-to-end service for its customers including warehousing and last-mile delivery by domestic courier Pos Laju. To date, Malaysia, Pos Laju currently handles 84.6 million volume of parcels and documents.

Pos Malaysia’s online sellers will also be able to use Anchanto’s SelluSeller, a one-stop platform that enables merchants and enterprises to sell on various e-marketplaces across Asia. The new system will go live at the end of June this year.

“We’re pleased to be working with Pos Malaysia to provide them with our cross-border e-commerce technology that will help them manage the whole spectrum of services,” Anchanto CEO Vaibhav Dabhade said.

“The rapid growth of e-Commerce in Asia means that third-party logistics players such as Pos Malaysia need to modernize to be part of this growth story.”

Southeast Asia is expected to become one of the world’s fastest-growing regions for e-commerce revenues, exceeding a forecast of $25 billion by 2020 from $11 billion in 2015, according to a Frost & Sullivan report. Malaysia and Thailand were the largest e-commerce markets in Southeast Asia in 2015, generating revenues of $2.3 billion and $2.1 billion respectively.

“Pos Malaysia’s strategic collaboration with Anchanto will will enable us to provide and offer a complete range of e-Fulfilment services to our customers such as reliable quality packets and parcel delivery products and services, competitive price and high-level support for warehousing management as well as packet and parcel preparation,” said Pos Malaysia’s group CEO Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.

Mohd Shukrie added that the initiative is expected to generate a new business streams in e-commerce fulfilment business and we hope to capitalise on the double digit growth of the e-commerce industry between 15% to 20% in the coming years.

Pos Malaysia also has an existing transhipment business with China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba.
