Pacnet has launched a new cloud-based data storage service called Pacnet DataVault. Pacnet said the new service “simplifies data backup and storage for today’s growing businesses.”
The company said with the rapidly growing amount of emails, documents and images that businesses generate today, many customers are now grappling with the complexities that accompany the need to back up swelling data archives in order to ensure business continuity as well as to meet regulatory requirements.
Through a simple installation of the Pacnet DataVault client software onto the user’s computer and an Internet connection, data from the computer can be set up to be automatically backed up into the “cloud” and onto Pacnet DataVault servers.
By hosting the backed up data in the cloud, the data is not only protected off site, but this also enables the user to access the data anywhere and anytime, Pacnet said.
Pacnet DataVault is powered by Mozy, the online backup service from EMC.
