Pacnet is stretching its network reach into the US enterprise market with a little help from tw telecom. It’s the first E-Access foray in tho the USA for Pacnet, which has been recreating itself since bringing in former XO chief Carl Grivner as its CEO.
tw telecom is providing the E-Access ‘one to many’ services through ENNIs that have been set up in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.
That will allow Pacnet to hook up enterprises and data centers along its Asia-Pacific network routes and its spread in mainland China to locations throughout the USA.
We generally hear about tw telecom’s own enterprise wins, while the wholesale side gets short shrift. However, Pacnet and tw telecom are a natural fit here, as they don’t compete with each other significantly anywhere.
And with the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 standards in place, all the work tw telecom has been doing on its Ethernet services work just as well via a wholesale model to customers they wouldn’t normally target. I wonder if there are other such deals in the works with international network operators.
