Australia's Optus has launched a promotional partnership with accommodation booking site Airbnb to offer discounts and mobile roaming credit for Airbnb bookings.
Optus has arranged to offer its own customers new to Airbnb a $50 discount voucher for any booking over $100.
Australian guests new to Airbnb will also be able to receive a free $30 prepaid SIM to use for international roaming at any of Airbnb's overseas properties.
The offers will be provided in the form of codes that can be redeemed on each other company's websites.
Airbnb estimates that around 25,000 Australians will be using Airbnb to book overseas accommodation over the Christmas holidays.
“Providing travellers with a little extra credit before they take off will give them one less thing to worry about,” Optus managing director for customers Rohan Ganeson commented.
“Travel is so exciting but untangling an overseas mobile plan can be a frustrating experience. We partnered with Airbnb to take down this barrier and help travellers feel like a local as soon as they land.”
Optus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SingTel Group, and is Australia's second largest mobile operator after Telstra.
