In-flight communications provider OnAir will become the first distribution partner for Inmarsat's new SwiftBroadband service.

The Mobile OnAir service, which is broadband satellite-enabled, supports in-flight SMS, voice and email services over passengers' mobile phones and other devices, such as the BlackBerry or Treo.

The SwiftBroadband service from Inmarsat will give passengers in-flight Internet access through their laptop computers.

According to OnAir, the deal with Inmarsat will bring affordable mobile roaming rates to airline passengers.
