Japan's NTT Communications has arranged to acquire Indonesian data center operator PT Cyber CSF for an undisclosed sum, in a bid to strengthen its data center capabilities in APAC.
Cyber CSF is Indonesia's largest data center provider, operating a facility equipped to house 2,800 racks in 7,700 square meters of space.
The carrier-neutral facility is centrally-located in the heart of Jakarta, and is directly connected to an internet exchange (IX) point used by multiple ISPs, as well as 32 domestic and overseas operators.
NTT Com has an existing point-of-presence for its global IP network at the data center, and also plans to establish a PoP for its Arcstar Universal One VPN network at the facility in October.
NTT Indonesia is also currently building a domestic fiber network that will connect the facility with other major data centers in Jakarta, as well as industrial parks and office buildings.
The company said it was motivated to pursue the transaction because its existing data center capacity in Indonesia is reaching the maximum. NTT Com has been providing data center services in Indonesia since 2001.
Post-completion Cyber CSF will be renamed to the NTT Indonesia Nexcenter, forming part of NTT Com's international network of Nexcenter data centers.
