Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) is getting closer to Juniper Networks to simplify development of LTE and LTE Advanced networks.

The pair is extending an existing R&D partnership to cover secure IP connectivity for mobile broadband networks – something NSN claims is essential to successfully deploying the 4G technologies.

Areas of joint development will include next generation mobile backhaul; radio access security; mobile site connectivity; and carrier-grade NAT.

Gerhard Staudenherz, head of OEM products business line at NSN, says the collaboration helps to ensure “smooth network integration,” for operators, while David Fremaux, vice president of Strategic Alliances at Juniper Networks, notes the pair can offer “an exemplary knowledge base and experience of mobile and IP technology.”
