NHK is showcasing its ultra high-definition TV technology at this year’s ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium (DBS) in Kuala Lumpur from March 3 to 6.
NHK has been leading the development of 8K Super Hi-Vision, and will exhibit a small 8K camera weighing just two kilograms.
Other highlights in 8K will include a performance by the Japanese drum group Tao, time-lapse footage of Mount Fuji, and key moments from the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
NHK will also display the world’s smallest 13.3 inch 8K OLED, a display technology using an ultra-thin screen.
The Japanese broadcaster is accelerating the test broadcast of 8K by satellite and plans to start an 8K broadcast in 2018.
