Rupert Murdoch led the unveiling of The Daily, touted as the industry’s first national daily news publication created from the ground up for iPad.
The Daily offers a mix of text, photography, audio, video, information graphics, touch interactivity and real-time data and social feeds.
Ovum principal analyst Adrian Drury said that while interest is expected to spike at launch, it will be subscriber numbers at the end of 2011 that matter.
“It will need sustained, heavy promotion and a compelling pricing strategy,” Drury said.
