Myanmar's newest full-service mobile operator MyTel plans to launch the nationwide sale of SIMs next month as it expands its operating footprint.

MyTel, the joint venture between Viettel and a consortium of local ICT companies, expects to become the first operator in the market to provide nationwide 4G services, Viet Nam Newsreported.

The operator launched services in Nay Pyi Taw, eastern Bago and Kayin State in March and is now expanding its footprint.

MyTel plans to invest in deploying more than 7,000 4G base stations and over 3,000km of fiber backbone in its first year of official operations, and is targeting 2 million to 3 million customers this year.

The operator is charging 10 kyats ($0.0074) per minute for on-net calls and 23 kyats per minute for off-net calls, as well as a base rate of 3 kyats per MB for data. MyTel is also offering packages ranging from 699 kyats for 400MB of data up to 14,999 kyats for 10GB.

With its expanded operations MyTel will be competing against incumbent operators Telenor Myanmar, Ooredoo Myanmar and the joint venture between Myanmar Post and Telecom and Japan's KDDI, as well as newly launched data-only 4G operator ananda.
