Realeyes 3D, Plazes and Mobile Complete topped a field of 23 start-ups to take home prizes in the second Mobile Monday Global Peer Awards in Barcelona Monday night.

Following an afternoon of brisk elevator pitches from companies nominated by local MoMo chapters worldwide - including eight from Asia-Pacific - the expert MoMo jury voted Paris-based Realeyes 3D as the winner of this year's Global Peer Award.

However, it was Plazes of Geneva that won over the audience who voted via SMS for the Audience Favorite award category.

And in the Community Favorite category - voted on by MoMo chapters - the winner was Silicon Valley-based Mobile Complete for its desktop live testing solution where apps developers can test an app with a device on a live network.

Meanwhile, the Carnival of Mobilists - a group of bloggers specializing in covering mobile innovations and trends - gave their Host Of The Year award to Rudy deWaele of M-Trends.org.

Caroline Lewko, CEO of the Wireless Industry Partnership and the MC of the event, said the awards were conceived as a way to promote recognition of small companies on a global platform.

"It's a good way for them to showcase what they do and to help create a broad perspective of what's been happening in the industry in the past year," she said.
