Media Broadcast in Germany has picked Comarch Smart BSS to support efforts to introduce paid, digital DVB-T2 TV services through a reseller network and a web shop app.
Media Broadcast currently delivers content via a DVB-T network to 7.6 million German households serving public and commercial broadcasters. The new DVB-T2/HEVC standard will enable Media Broadcast to launch a new digital terrestrial TV service on the German market.
For customers to take advantage of this service, CI+ (Common Interface Plus) modules and set-top boxes will be available from a network of resellers, mainly supermarkets for added convenience, and from a web shop.
Customers will be able to access content in HD quality via DVB-T2 starting May, making the 2016 UEFA European Football Championship in France one of the first major events to be transmitted via this standard.
Comarch Smart BSS, a business support system composed of out-of-the-box products yet offering a wide variety of customizable options, will underpin all BSS processes and provide broad support to Media Broadcast in all its activities.
Comarch Smart BSS allows Media Broadcast to optimize the setup by using a single platform that combines CRM, a web shop, billing, voucher management, the product catalog, and service activation.
