Singapore's M1 has launched Asia’s first network-based mobile malware detection solution – M1 Mobile Guard.
As smartphone become an essential part of users’ lives, used to make financial transactions, and as a store for personal and professional information, smartphone infections are soaring - growing 400% in 2016.
Mobile Guard, powered by Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Security network-based anti-malware solution, works by checking devices accessing M1’s mobile network for signs that it may be infected by malware. This enables Mobile Guard to offer always-on protection.
Once Mobile Guard determines that a customer’s device has been compromised, it will trigger an SMS and e-mail alert to the customer’s registered mobile number and e-mail address. The customer can then utilize the bundled anti-malware solution to rectify it.
“M1’s Mobile Guard is the only solution in our market to offer always-on, end-to-end network-driven malware protection – helping customers perform a device health assessment, detecting and alerting customers to a threat, and helping them eliminate any threat found,” M1 CIO Alex Tan said.
“There has been a significant increase in the frequency and intensity of malware attacks over the last few years. Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Security solution, designed to combat today’s more sophisticated malware threats, provides complete peace of mind for M1 subscribers by delivering the highest levels of security for mobile and IoT devices,” Nokia head of Asia South Nicolas Bouverot added.
Customers can sign up to protect their loved ones with Mobile Guard for S$2 ($1.47) a month starting 26 September 2017 through the My M1 app, calling M1’s hotline 1627, and at any M1 Shop outlet islandwide. We are working with our handset partners to bundle Mobile Guard with selected handsets.
