South Korea's LG U+ and Huawei have jointly launched Seoul TechCity, a new collaborative project aimed to bring smart city capabilities to the city.
The TechCity initiative will focus on three areas, including bringing Gigabit class internet services to every corner of the city using 5G.
The initiative will also bring together the companies with other industry partners to develop new mobile services such as ultra-high definition IPTV over 5G fixed wireless access (UHD IPTV over 5G FWA), virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), drones, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) and narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) applications.
Finally, the initiative will focus on building an eosystem for a future digital society designed to incubate future-oriented applications.
We believe TechCity will help LG U+ with leading technology innovation and fostering new services,” LG U+ VP of 5G strategy Kim Dae Hee said.
“LG U+ will work together with Huawei to create a better experience for our customers in South Korea."
