(Kyodo News International via NewsEdge) KDDI scored the largest net subscription increase in June for the second consecutive month among mobile phone service providers in Japan, an industry body said.
KDDI posted a net increase of 156,000 subscriptions, new subscriptions minus cancellations, thanks to a net increase of 302,600 subscriptions to its 'au' service, which more than offset a net fall of 146,600 to its Tu-Ka service, the Telecommunications Carriers Association said.
NTT DoCoMo trailed KDDI with a net increase of 141,000 subscriptions, while Vodafone KK came in third with a rise of 16,600 subscriptions.
The total number of mobile phone service subscriptions rose 0.3% during the month to 92.87 million.
Among PHS service providers, Willcom increased the number of its subscriptions by 56,400 in June.
