Japan's KDDI has announced a new long-term employee training and exchange program with MPT, the operator's partner in Myanmar.
KDDI and Sumitomo were selected as the international partners to state-owned MPT (Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications) for a nationwide mobile rollout as part of the liberalization and modernization of the Myanmar telecoms sector.
To support its partner, KDDI said it will select an initial four MPT employees to undergo a year of practical training in Japan at the hands of experienced KDDI personnel.
After a roughly three months of Japanese language study, the trainees will be embedded in KDDI's operations. The initial four MPT employees will consist of two technical staff and two business managers.
Under the program, technical staff will undergo training in network design and development, maintenance and operation support and information systems. Business management trainees will meanwhile study in the sales, marketing and new services planning departments.
After completing the program, the trainees will return to Myanmar and utilize their new know-how to improve MPT's operations.
KDDI said it plans to “continue to contribute to the development of the economy and industry in Myanmar, as well as to improving the lives of its people, while making efforts toward improving customer satisfaction.”
