Kazsat-1 control transferred to Kazakhstan

(Satellite News via NewsEdge) Control of Kazakhstan's first communications and broadcast satellite, Kazsat-1, was transferred October 17 from manufacturer Khrunichev State Space Scientific and Production Center to customer Kazsat JSC.

The development of Kazsat-1 involved more than 15 international firms, including Boeing, Alcatel Alenia Spazio Italia and Com Dev. The satellite was placed into geostationary orbit June 18 from the Baikonur Space Center by a Proton booster.
