More than 450 Tasmanian jobs have been created since Vodafone announced in March 2013 that it would double the size of its Australian-based customer service operations.

Vodafone’s expansion in Tasmania will see the construction of a state-of-the-art contact center in Hobart’s central business district.

Vodafone says its construction and fit-out partners, Sultan Holdings and Hansen Yuncken, both based in Hobart, would employ an additional 240 people during the build phase of the project, due for completion in December.

“By the time the new center is fully operational and at maximum capacity in July 2015, Vodafone will have a combined workforce of more than 1,300 across its two Tasmanian customer service centers,” said Matt Paterson, Vodafone’s general manager of customer care.
