(Space Daily via NewsEdge) Engineers at Europe's Spaceport are checking out the JCSAT-10 satellite inside the S5 facility, preparing it for the dual-payload Ariane 5 ECA launch currently scheduled for Aug. 11.
The tandem satellite is France's Syracuse 3B military relay spacecraft, which arrived at the Kourou facility earlier this month.
Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems built JCSAT-10, which will be operated by the Japanese Satellite Corp. in Tokyo. JCSAT-10 carries 30 Ku-band and 12 C-band transponders and will provide coverage over Japan, Asia, the Western Pacific and Hawaii.
