“Back in June, the launch of the iPhone 4 temporarily slowed the meteoric rise of the Google Android operating system. But our latest survey shows the Android OS is once again making major advances in the smartphone market,” ChangeWave VP of research Paul Carton said.

BlackBerry OS was on the wishlist of 6% of the respondents, up a little from 5% in June in the wake of the launch of BlackBerry Torch.

But there is defection from the BlackBerry to Android, partly because of lower levels of customer satisfaction. According to the survey, 65% of Android users are “very satisfied”, compared to 31% of RIM users. Apple does even better, on 74%.
