(Gulf News via NewsEdge) Inmarsat recorded first half revenues of $245.9 million, up 2.2% from the same period last year. Operating profit stood at $162.8 million, 3.6% higher than in 2005, prompting the company to raise its interim dividend by 4% to 10.66 cents per share.
The revenue and profit rise were attributed mainly to the company's maritime data and aeronautical divisions. Inmarsat's aeronautical division grew 36%, while revenues from maritime data increased 11%.
The company recently won a contract to provide network services for in-flight mobile telephony trials with major airlines in 2007 for OnAir, a joint venture between Airbus and SITA.
