Indonesia's PT Indosat has reached a deal with social media giant Twitter to allow prepaid customers to top up their phone credit through the platform.
Indosat and Twitter will offer joint internet, call and text packages through the social media platform in Indonesia, the Jakarta Globereported.
Prepaid customers will be able to request credit purchases by sending a tweet to a particular account using the hashtag #twitbuy.
With the agreement, Indosat will become the first operator in Asia-Pacific to introduce the ability to buy mobile credit over Twitter.
Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms in Indonesia, with over 29 million users as of last year. Smartphone penetration in the region is also growing rapidly.
PT Indosat is Indonesia's third largest operator with around 68.5 million subscribers. In April, the company revealed it had narrowed its net loss for 2014 by 28.6% to 1.98 trillion rupiah ($138.6 million) as a result of strong mobile subscriber and data gains. The company expressed confidence it can return to profitability this year.
