India's Idea Cellular has revealed it has completed the rollout of VoLTE services across all 20 of its 4G operating circles.
The company recently launched VoLTE services in the Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, North East Service Area and Jammu & Kashmir circles, expanding its VoLTE presence to 20 of India's 22 circles.
Customers with compatible 4G handsets will be automatically upgraded to the VoLTE service, with calls charged based on customers' existing plans.
Idea will offer VoLTE users in these circles 30GB of free data as part of the launch offer, including 10GB upon making their first VoLTE call.
Meanwhile ten major smartphone brands - Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, Nokia, OnePlus, Asus, Kult, Panasonic and Honor - have released Idea VoLTE patches for their devices. These brands collectively cover 75% of India's smartphone market. Future models from these vendors will come with the patch pre-embedded.
“With the completion of last phase of VoLTE roll out, Idea is now the only operator to offer pan India integrated 2G, 3G, 4G and VoLTE services,” Idea CMO Sashi Shankar said.
“Through our collaboration with 10 leading device brands, which cover 75% of the smartphone market, we will cater to our growing base of VoLTE users across the country.”
The only circles Idea's 4G and VoLTE services are not available within are Delhi and Kolkata.
