Huawei's chief marketing officer has revealed that the company is working on smart devices that dual-boot Android and Windows Phone.
The company is still committed to the Windows Phone platform, Shao Yang toldTrustedReviews. But he acknowledged that WP is a “much lower” priority than Android.
He said Huawei is following a dual OS strategy involving using Android and WP on the same device, reasoning that consumers would have an easier decision buying a WP device that can be switched to Android to run the plethora of Android apps.
Huawei will also remain open to adopting any emerging smartphone platform, Yang added, as the company does not want to overlook any chance to maintain its momentum in the smartphone segment.
The vendor affirmed its commitment to the Windows Phone ecosystem in September, after Microsoft announced its €5.44 billion ($7.56 billion) deal to buy out Nokia's device business.
