Huawei Technologies is setting up its regional data hosting and logistics center in the fast-growing Nusajaya region of Iskandar Malaysia – a fast developing region in Johor state – with support and facilitation by Khazanah Nasional.
The data hosting center will be located in an office space of at least 10,000 square feet while the logistics center will occupy a warehouse space of at least 80,000 square feet. The annual shipment volume is projected to be 1300 to 1500 containers at the Tanjung Pelepas Port in Iskandar Malaysia, with a cargo value worth estimated at US$300 Million. The proposed regional center is expected to result in the creation of 600 jobs in various managerial, technical and administrative positions in Iskandar Malaysia.
Formalizing Huawei's investment was an exchange ceremony witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Razak and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. It also marked the first state visit by the China President to Malaysia.
