Huawei appears to have backtracked on plans to develop smartphones that dual-boot Android and Windows Phone.
A Huawei spokesperson toldFierceWireless that the company now has no plans to launch a dual-OS smartphone.
In February, Huawei chief marketing officer Shao Yang toldTrustedReviews that the company is actively developing a dual Android-Windows Phone handset.
At the time, the company intended to launch the first such device in the US in Q2. But the spokesperson said Huawei's plans have changed since Yang made the comments.
Huawei still plans to launch new Windows Phones in 2014, but they will be single-OS only. The company said it will support the platform as long as consumers continue to demand Windows Phone devices.
The Wall Street Journal last week reported [subscription] that Asus has dropped plans to launch a high-end tablet/laptop hybrid that dual-boots Android and Windows 8.1, due to pressure from both Google and Microsoft.
