Hutchison Global Communications (HGC) has teamed up with Cambodian internet provider Ezecom to provide enterprise cloud services in the nation.
Through the arrangement HGC, the fixed-line arm of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH), has launched its ibizCloud service in Cambodia via a site in Phnom Penh.
This marks an extension of the ibizCloud service outside of Greater China and US.The company has cloud sites in Hong Kong, mainland China and Los Angeles.
Under the agreement, HGC will provide cloud design, connectivity technology and access to its international subsea and terrestrial network. Ezecom will in turn provide local connectivity and offer ibizCloud under its own brand with customizations for the local market.
ibizCloud is an on-demand virtual leased line (ODVLL) for secure data transmission between a customer's sites via a cloud platform.
“HGC developed the innovative ibizCloud service to help corporate customers cope with the big data trend,” HGC president of itnernational and carrier business Andrew Kwok said.
“It enables resellers –such as hosting providers and start-up companies – to offer cloud services without having to go through the product development process.”
Ezecom CEO Paul Blanche-Horgan added that being based in Cambodia, the company “understands Cambodian businesses so this will help ease any worries that businesses here have about using cloud computing – knowing that we are there, in person, to support them with their data management and storage.”
