Philippine carrier Globe Telecom has previewed its Innovation platform for cloud computing.
The carrier’s business unit, Globe Business, recently provided a test drive of its new cloud solution, touted as a “game-changer” in cloud computing.
According to company officials recently, the new Globe Business local public cloud developer platform expands the company’s previous cloud offerings such as DIS (Dynamic Infrastructure Services) and Helix, or the “second generation DIS,” making it in effect the third generation of this platform.
“The Globe Business cloud platform that we will be launching is a complete public cloud ready for deployment. It runs SSD Accelerated Hyper Dense compute nodes ensuring significantly higher performance than leading cloud environments. The system is up and running and is currently installed in both Los Angeles, California, USA and locally in our MK2 data center,” said Francisco Fernando Claravall, Globe Business head of business products and services.
Fast, robust and scalable, he said that the platform has the ability for self-subscription to build an entire cloud and launch applications from gaming to business software such as customer relationship management suites in less than two minutes. After signing up, a user can assume the role of being an administrator, who can then add new app templates and make it available to customers anytime.
Soon after its commercial launch, users can look forward to continuous enhancements, such as file drag-and-drop capability, adjustable storage, GCASH interface and integration for postpaid billing with the forthcoming modernized Globe IT system.
