The Philippines' Globe Telecom, through its subsidiary Globe Business, has upgraded its SD-WAN service to support LTE as a connectivity option.

Adding LTE support will allow companies will multiple branches to utilize Globe's LTE network to set up secure connections between the main office and those in remote areas, the company said.

Globe's LTE network spanned around 12,000 sites across the country as of the end of June, and the operator is continuing to aggressively expand its coverage.

According to Globe Business head of solutions sales Anchit Mendoza, LTE connectivity can be used as either primary transport or to add additional capacity to an SD-WAN deployment.

“SD-WAN LTE offers faster deployment than broadband and wired network connections, which ensures stable and secure connectivity for remote branches of retail companies,” he said.

“Furthermore, with advancements in LTE and wireless technologies, this new capability can provide service which is at par with enterprise-grade connectivity.”

He said the service is particularly suited to geographically distributed organizations such as banks, logistics companies, and retailers, which need to run applications that rely on connectivity for real-time information without compromising security and reliability.

Globe launched an SD-WAN service tailored to SMEs earlier this month.
